Many thanks those of you who have donated your efforts to the 80s Crappy Snaps Football Exhibition…
From the pre-digital days of point and hope…
Leeds Road, Huddersfield Town. Thanks to Ian du Feu of the GotNotGot Twitterati, who sent us this snap of a Terriers v Leeds game from the mid-80s. It is nicely out of focus, and the light is all over the place, but could really do with a big head in the way to top it off nicely.
Prenton Park, Tranmere Rovers. Apparently this shot from Steve McKeown was taken after Rovers had beaten Exeter in the final game of 1986-87 to avoid becoming the first team to be automatically relegated out of the Football League. “It’s probably a good job it is blurred.” reckons Steve…
St James Park, Newcastle United. NewcastleDavey @NewcastleDavey sent us this snap via Twitter of: “New signing Mirandinha (white jacket) being introduced to St James’ Park in 1987…”
Now that really is a white jacket…
Anfield, Liverpool. Guy Keeley sent us a classic collection: “…taken by me from the Paddock at Anfield Road in October 1979 vs Bristol City.”
Here is one for now… with the wonderful rubbish combo of fence/big head in shot, and all blurry… “…taken seconds after goal was scored – see Ray Kennedy with left peg still outstretched.”
Note the contrast between celebrating Liverpool fans and fed up City fans… and someone’s house. Brilliant.

Your photos of 80s matches that are a bit rubbish…
Come on, we know you have them, send them in to: garysilke@sky.com
If you do actually have some rubbish 80s photos of the match then you should probably buy the retro-footy-grumble-fest ‘Got, Not Got’… runner-up in this year’s Footy Book of the Year, and this Xmas’s must-have stocking filler. Available from branches of WH Smith and Waterstones or online here…
