We turn our attention to Bukta, an often overlooked kit manufacturer who seem to be quite popular with supporters of clubs that they have kitted out…
Edward Buck & Sons was founded in 1879 and provided clothing for the military and the boy scouts. In the days before visible branding on football kits they also kitted out many football clubs for much of the 20th Century. Their biggest triumph was providing kit for three times European Champions Ajax in the early 70s. It wasn’t until the mid-70s that the little ‘stylised buck’ logo began to appear on kits as you can see from these Shoot! ‘cut and and keep’ booklets…
In the latter part of the decade Bukta followed the general trend of logos down the sleeves and shorts design that Umbro, Admiral and Adidas also employed…

Probably Bukta’s greatest domestic triumph came in the 1975 FA Cup Final when West Ham wore their strip in the 2-0 win over Fulham.
After a fairly dormant time in the 1980s there was a Bukta revival in the late 80s/early 1990s when a host of clubs were signed up including: Leicester City, Bradford City, Crystal Palace, Hearts, Rotherham, St Johnstone, Orient , Dundee United, Chesterfield, Wolves and West Ham
