Kit ‘n’ Football Card Quiz No 3 – The Story of the Blues

Welcome to the third in our series of tantalising, brain-teasing football quizzes based around our never-ending supply of cards ‘n’ stickers from the good old days…

Who are these ten footballing blues as featured on the 1971 MirrorCard team groups?

We’ll be very impressed if anyone gets all of them.

Here are the reds for you to guess from yesterday too…

More of this sort of thing can be found in retro-footy-grumble-fest ‘Got, Not Got’… runner-up in this year’s Footy Book of the Year, and this Xmas’s must-have stocking filler. Your missus can get it from branches of WH Smith and Waterstones or online here

  1. Chesterfield – Cardiff – Gillingham – Carlisle – Rochdale – Southend – Peterborough – Everton – Ipswich – Portsmouth ??

  2. Chris Worrall says:

Ok I’ll say … (left/right etc) Chesterfield, Cardiff, Rochdale, Carlisle, St Johnstone, Gillingham, Peterborough, Everton, Hartlepool, Portsmouth. I’m pretty sure on most but one or two I’ve just had to have a pop at!

    • thefoxfanzine says:

That is an even better effort – one wrong!

Slight clue – there are no Scottish clubs in this collection.

  3. Chris Worrall says:

I thought so but looks very much like St Johnstone’s kit of the time, I’ll have to think again. If I got Rochdale right that’s a bloody good guess, cos it was !

  4. Paul Pengilly says:

I reckon the missing one is Bristle Rovers

    • Paul Pengilly says:

BTW I do know the correct way to spell Bristol, but took my spelling from the 1970s book “Krek waiters peak Bristle”

  5. thefoxfanzine says:

    I thought it was Brizzle?!
Well done sir, correct. Brizzle Rovers dropped the quarters between 62 and 73.
