So farewell then, Giorgio Chinaglia – and one more spin for that all-time sexiest footy 45…

So farewell then, Giorgio Chinaglia.
There can’t have been many Italian World Cup football-sticker faces of the ’70s who were brought up in Wales, making their debut for Swansea Town in 1964. Still fewer who were not only a Lazio goalscoring legend but who also became the most prolific marksman in NASL history…
And it was only Giorgio who made his sole solo single in the World Cup year of 1974, boasting of being the best footballer in all the world… and looking forward to the trainer giving him the nod that it was the right time of the week to have sex!
Listen closely… and sing along with the groovemeister
“On the field / Think of you / Trainer says some love tonight… awwwright!”

With thanks to the World’s Worst Records blog for the 45 cover.

  1. Awesome song. Loved the fact he still had a Welsh accent when interviewed in Once Upon A Time.

  2. Steph says:

An artist (maybe only on the grass). RIP.
